The Genesee integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) facility would demonstrate, on a commercial scale, coal gasification-based combined-cycle electrical power generation technology in a single train unit, and is expected to offer significant efficiency and emissions benefits over existing conventional coal-fired power generation technologies.
Jacobs’s scope involves the pre-FEED (front-end engineering and design) and FEED engineering activities for this facility.
The Genesee IGCC project is currently in its second phase, which is scheduled for completion in 2009. If subsequent investment and construction decisions go as planned, a 270MW generating station using the new technology would be targeted to commence operations in 2015.
