Company expects to complete the project in February 2011

Jacobs Engineering Group has received a contract from a major oil and gas company for the engineering of a thermal unit at an oil sands facility in northeast Alberta, Canada.

The Jacobs Engineering Group said that it will perform pre-engineering design specifications (Pre-EDS), EDS, detailed engineering, and procurement services for the in-situ oil sands central processing facility.

Engineering activities began November 2008, and the company is scheduled to complete its scope in February 2011, executing 20% or more of the engineering from its Mumbai office in India.

Chip Mitchell, vice president of the Jacobs Group, said: “We have worked with oil producers to develop production facilities for more than 30 years, and in that time have completed in excess of 40 heavy oil recovery projects.”

Earlier in the mid week of January 2009, Jacobs Engineering Group announced that it received a contract from the U.S. Navy to continue supporting the Airborne Threat Simulation Organization (ATSO) at Pt. Mugu, Calif. The contract, with a total maximum value of $43.8 million, consists of a one-year base period and four one-year options and runs through December 2013.
