Jacobs Engineering Group has been awarded a contract by Hindustan Petroleum to provide project management consultancy services for a lube oil base stock quality upgrading project at the latter's refining complex in Mumbai, India.

For a total investment cost of approximately $160 million, the plant will be upgraded to produce 200,000 tons per year of superior quality lube base oil stock (LOBS) to meet Hindustan Petroleum’s (HPCL) quality requirements.

Jacobs will perform front-end engineering and supervise turnkey contracting for the LOBS project. HPCL has selected ExxonMobil Research and Engineering as licensor for the basic design and engineering package.

Chris Nagel, vice president of Jacobs, said: We are delighted to work with HPCL to ensure their facility continues to meet their expectations for a high-quality product.
