Jacobs was awarded the contract in conjunction with Tobin Consulting Engineers, and is providing services over a two-year period for the full planning stage of the GDD-Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, Marine Outfall and Orbital Drainage System.

The engineering consulting services include project inception, an alternative wastewater treatment plant site assessment, pipeline and marine route selection, preparation of a preliminary report, environmental impact statement and preparation of all documentation required for wayleaves, land acquisition and the planning process.

Jacobs is also providing services including obtaining planning/statutory approval and assisting the Contracting Authority in the acquisition of the necessary sites and wayleaves associated with the scheme.

The scheme involves the provision of a regional wastewater treatment plant (WwTP) and associated marine outfall located at a site in the northern part of the Greater Dublin Area.

In addition to the provision of an orbital drainage system linking the Regional WwTP to the existing regional sewer network for future connections identified within the catchment, the company said.

Fingal County Council is acting on behalf of Dublin City Council and Meath, Kildare, Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown and South Dublin County Councils.
