The solar park, which will address the energy shortage of Pakistan, is an important project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

The corridor, which is currently being built, is a development program for energy and infrastructure projects to link China to southern Pakistan and develop a new gateway for trade.

Energy demand in Pakistan has increased about 8% annually with a 6GW projected deficit in the country’s energy production.

The project is located in the Punjab province, which is highly suitable for photovoltaic power generation with about 3,000 hours of sunlight per year.

The project is situated in an arid region where temperatures reach around 50 degrees celcius in the summer. JA Solar delivered its modules under the supervision of PV Lab Germany.

JA Solar president Jian Xie said: "The establishment of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park is an important means to attract foreign investment for Pakistan’s energy industry.

"By completing 100MW of shipments to Pakistan, JA has achieved a new milestone in its effort to expand globally into new markets."
