Leveraging ITT’s Enidine brand technologies, the new custom seismic damping and isolation systems are designed to safeguard high-voltage components, ranging from 5t live-tank circuit-breakers to 50t fixed series capacitors (FSCs).

The systems are fitted with an interconnected and finely tuned set of viscous dampers and wire rope isolators to isolate the high-voltage components’ base from shock and vibration coming from the earth.

In addition, the systems can be customized for each project, anywhere in the world seismic activity is of concern.

ITT Control Technologies EMEA managing director Peter Bauer said, "We’re able to customize, recommend and fine tune these systems because we have experience with preventing the structural failure of power plant turbines as well as bridges, high-rise buildings and stadiums."

Siemens Power Transmission Division Seismic Engineering Team head Achim von Seck said, "ITT and its Enidine brand were partners in the concept and also in finding the best arrangement of technology for isolating the high-voltage components’ bases."

The technology is currently being showcased by ITT at the Hannover Messe in Hannover, Germany.
