Under the three-year contract, the company will continue to help manage ScottishPower’s business processes and day-to-day tasks, including meter data, transaction and report management.

ScottishPower commercial manager Colin Blair said the prepayment metering in the UK is a complex operation, and requires significant back office support.

Itron Northern Europe Energy sales, marketing & deliveries vice president Nigel Hughes said the services will help ScottishPower drive improvements in customer service and business efficiencies.

Itron’s unique managed service offering and prepayment expertise will be used by ScottishPower for strategic operation at a lower cost and offer customers continuing support as the UK transitions into smart metering.

Itron has been providing managed services to ScottishPower since 2006.
