The 14/18b-A1 injection well encountered 325ft of net reservoir, which the company said that it exceeded requirements for water injection to support initial gross production from the field of about 22,000 barrels of oil per day (bopd).
The well was drilled down flank from three successful appraisal wells that marked the beginning of a 180 day drilling and completion campaign prior to sub-sea equipment installation and hook-up of the BW Athena floating production, storage and offloading vessel.
The well has been fully cased and temporarily suspended pending batch completion of all five wells (four producers, one water injector) once the final production well has been drilled.
Ithaca operates Athena development with a 22.5% interest along with joint venture partners Dyas UK (47.5%), EWE Aktiengesellschaft (20%) and Zeus Petroleum (10%).
