Idaho Treatment Group (ITG) has received a $147m contract from the U.S. Department of Energy's (DoE) to provide waste management services at DoE's site in Idaho, US.

ITG will manage and operate the DoE’s advanced mixed waste treatment project (AMWTP) on or about 1 August 2011, under a contract that runs through 30 September 2015.

AMWTP will safely retrieve, characterize, treat and package transuranic waste for shipment out of Idaho to permanent disposal at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in New Mexico, US.

The project will meet all technical and regulatory requirements for shipping waste.

B&W TSG President S. Robert Cochran said the completion of the project will demonstrate B&W’s capabilities in nuclear materials processing and waste management.

"We appreciate the Department of Energy’s confidence in our ability to deliver on the commitments we made in our proposal." Cochran said.

ITG has been formed by Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, URS Corporation and EnergySolutions Federal Services.

ITG’s subcontractors include Safety and Risk Analysis Consulting, Strategic Management Solutions, Visionary Solutions and Cabrera Services.
