Spain-based Isolux Corsan has won a $208.1m contract to construct a 400kV electricity transmission line in Kenya.

The transmission line will be connected to the national grid, which is being developed by state-owned Kenya Electricity Transmission Company.

Construction of the line will begin in the second half of this year and the line will operational by 2013.

The line will transmit electricity from a 310 MW wind power plant located in Turkana, which is being built by Lake Turkana Wind Power.

The $902m wind power plant is expected to be operational after 2013, reports Reuters.
