Hyundai Engineering & Construction led Korean consortium will involve in the construction of 140,000 barrels-per-day refinery, according to Iraq Oil Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad.

Jihad also said that the engineering, procurement, and construction deal of the project is around $6.04bn.

Hyundai, along with four other Korean companies intends to complete the project over a period of 54 months.

The refinery, which will produce gasoline, gas oil, fuel gas, liquefied gas, jet fuel, and asphalt, is one of four new sites Iraq plans to build to increase refining capacity to around 750,000 barrels per day.
