The preliminary draft of the contract is ready and we are waiting for complementary information so that we could send the draft to the Turkmen side within the next two weeks, Gholam Reza Manouchehri, Petropars Oil and Gas managing director said.
Manouchehri said that Turkmenistan wants to develop the field through engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) system which needs Ashkhabad to provide the costs of the project.
Their other proposal is that we receive the produced gas in return for the project costs and we are studying it, Manouchehri added.
In February 2009, Iran has signed a tentative agreement to develop the massive Yolotan-Osman gas field close to eastern Turkmenistan.
Iran also signed a contract to raise its yearly purchases of Turkmen gas to 10 billion cubic meters (bcm), which amounts to one-fifth of what Russia purchases from Turkmenistan.
Iran has also been negotiating with Turkey the routing of Turkmen gas to Europe through the existing Iran-Turkey gas pipeline.
