FARS News Agency cited National Iranian Oil Refining & Distribution Company (NIORDC) planning director Shahabeddin Metaji said that the megaproject includes construction of eight gas condensate refineries as well as some utility facilities.
The project also involves construction of logistics and processing units at Siraf Refining Park on the rim of the Persian Gulf.
Metaji said: "The products of these refineries will include liquefied gas, naphtha, jet fuel and diesel fuel in compliance with the European Union’s Euro-4 and Euro-5 (emission) standards."
Currently, Iran is negotiating with the private sector as well as foreign companies to finance the project, which is estimated to cost $2.4bn.
The project is expected to be completed in four years.
