Iran said it is about to sign a deal worth US$2B with China for the construction of 10 dams in the country, possibly by next week.

The latest total of dams to be built in Iran is 88 over the next year, and the country is studying another 176 projects to build over the next 10 years.

The government said efforts are underway to attract domestic finance to build two dams in Bushehr and Zanjan provinces.

Bids to build a further five dams are being assessed. The projects are in the provinces of Ardebil, West Azarbaijan, Gilan, Fars and Lorestan.
