The project is situated 80 miles southwest of Chicago at Invenergy’s Grand Ridge Energy Center. It includes a 210MW wind farm; a 20 MW solar project; and an existing 31.5MW and 1.5MW energy storage units.

The 3 MW Grand Ridge Energy Storage Expansion facility takes Invenergy’s total operating storage capacity to more than 68MW.
The 31.5MW Grand Ridge storage facility became functional in May 2015.
In the same year, Invenergy made another online purchase of 31.5MW energy storage project which complemented the 100.5MW wind farm at Beech Ridge in West Virginia.
Last month, Invenergy entered into a 120MW wind power purchase agreement with 3M, to provide the science-based company with renewable energy for its operations across North America.
Under the agreement, Invenergy will supply the power generated at the Gunsight Wind Energy Center located in Texas. The clean electricity will be fed into the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) regional electricity grid.
Invenergy has developed more than 12,032 MW of utility-scale wind, solar, natural gas and energy storage projects that are in different stages of advanced development, construction and operation in the US, Canada and Europe.
