The 156MW wind energy facility is located in the municipalities of Kinnear’s Mills, St-Jean-de-Brebeuf and Thetford Mines, and consists of ENERCON E-82 2.3MW wind turbine generators.
The power project is expected to begin commercial operation in 2013, and will produce enough energy to power approximately 50,000 homes.
Hydro-Quebec will buy the electricity generated by the project under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The Des Moulins facility will connect to a 230kV power line of the Hydro-Quebec TransEnergie transmission grid at a substation located near the power line.
