Intellon Corporation (Intellon) has signed a technology licensing agreement with devolo AG (devolo) for new low-current technology that reduces power consumption in wireline networking devices. The agreement grants Intellon a right to use devolo’s power saving technology in its ICs for powerline and other wired communications. Initially, the company will make the licensed technology available for its INT6300 and INT6400 HomePlug AV-based chipsets and reference designs.

The company’s customers will have the opportunity to use this important technology in products based on company’s ICs.

“Our customers are increasingly requesting lower operating power wired networking solutions.” said Rick Furtney president and chief operating officer of Intellon. “Our recently introduced HomePlug AV-based INT6400 IC provides industry-leading green performance. This Agreement enables us to further our efforts and continue to lead the industry in the development of low power solutions in the market.”

devolo is the world leader in HomePlug–based powerline networking equipment and Intellon is the HomePlug IC market leader and both companies are committed to developing the best performing, lowest power solutions for a growing market, said Heiko Harbers, chief executive officer of devolo. This licensing agreement will make Intellon-based HomePlug technology even more attractive throughout the world.
