Located on Crown land, approximately 50km north of the community of Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia, the hydroelectric facility is expected to have an average annual production capacity of 81,000 MWh, required to power more than 7,300 BC households.
Innergex Renewable Energy president and CEO Michel Letellier said: "We are pleased to have commissioned our 34th facility, reinforcing our leadership position among independent power producers in British Columbia and, indeed, in Canada, with a gross installed capacity totaling more than 1,200MW.
"This project was realized thanks to the support and collaboration of the Douglas and S’tailes First Nations, with whom we enjoy solid long-term relations."
The project construction started in 2013 and was completed in mid-October, on time and under budget, the company said.
Upon reach full operating capacity, the hydro power plant is estimated to generate revenues and adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of under $8.7m and $7.2m respectively.
Power generated from the facility will be sold to BC Hydro under a 40-year fixed-price power purchase agreement.
Innergex Renewable Energy currently has interests in 34 operating facilities with an aggregate net installed capacity of 708MW, including 27 hydroelectric operating facilities, six wind farms, and one solar photovoltaic farm.
