Located on Crown land, approximately 50km north of the community of Harrison Hot Springs, the hydro power plant has an installed capacity of around 21.2MW.
Construction on the project commenced in 2013 and was completed in mid-October this year. Around $7m was invested in the project.
Innergex Renewable Energy president and CEO Michel Letellier said: "We are pleased to have commissioned our 34th facility, reinforcing our leadership position among independent power producers in British Columbia and, indeed, in Canada, with a gross installed capacity totaling more than 1,200 MW.
"This project was realized thanks to the support and collaboration of the Douglas and Sts’ailes First Nations, with whom we enjoy solid long-term relations."
The project is expected to generate 81,000MWh of clean electricity annually which will be enough to power over 7,300 households in British Columbia.
The electricity generated at the project will be sold to BC Hydro, under a 40-year fixed-price power purchase agreement.
In addition to run-of-river hydroelectric facilities, Innergex also owns and operates wind farms, and solar photovoltaic farms and carries out its operations in Quebec, Ontario, British Columbia, and Idaho, the US.
The company owns interests in 34 operating facilities with an aggregate net installed capacity of 708MW including 27 hydroelectric operating facilities, six wind farms, and one solar photovoltaic farm.
