PowerGrid chairman and MD RN Nayak was quoted by The Economic Times as saying that, "After establishing ourselves in the transmission segment, we now want to utilize our expertise in laying network in the distribution segment."

Nayak said the company has already prepared a detailed project report regarding the required investments, but it has no plans to enter into the power supply business.

The transmission firm is also mulling to set up a company for taking care of its overseas business and plans to appoint a consultant to provide inputs on the feasibility, Nayak said.

PowerGrid, with expertise in transmission, sub-transmission, distribution and telecom sectors, has undertaken consultancy assignments in Indian and international markets, where it is working with 11 countries.
