Submitted in July 2013, the proposal calls for the construction of the 240MW Heo Hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh, India. The project is expected to generate 1,078GWh of clean power per year, which is enough to power 1.75 million people in India.
CEA is expected to give the techno-economic clearance in early 2014 following thorough examination. The CEA approval will enable the company to move ahead with negotiations for a power purchasing agreement for the project.
The scope of the report included more than 15 detailed studies including geology, topography, hydrology, civil design and electro-mechanical engineering, cost analysis and financing.
The report was prepared following discussions with the national and state authorities, a field investigation for five years, as well as thorough technical and economic analysis of the project.
Once operational, the Heo project, which is part of a cascade of three projects totalling up to 571MW developed by the company, is expected to generate EBITDA of around $60m per annum.
