The government is reportedly planning to invite technical and financial bids from mining companies starting from 8 June until 21 July.
In the first two rounds of auction, five out of the 10 coal blocks were offered to private companies but it was later withdrawn because it received less than three bids.
The Economic Times cited Indian coal secretary Anil Swarup as saying that the government is also considering auction of coal from Coal India to be supplied to unregulated sectors, including cement and steel, for five years.
Coal India is expected to invite bids from companies for supplying a fixed quantity of coal at a floor price, and after the bids are received, the state-run mining company is expected to increase the floor price.
