“Under the aegis of the Nuclear Recycle Board, several integrated reprocessing and waste management plants of large capacity will be set up to meet the demand of Plutonium fuel for the fast breeder reactors,” Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, S Banerjee, said.
Banerjee was speaking at the BARC’s Founder’s day celebrations.
With the commencement of reprocessing at Kalpakkam Reprocessing Plant (KARP) in Tamil Nadu recently and continued operation of reprocessing plants at Arapur and Trombay (BARC), India’s rate of production of fuel material for fast breeder reactor is substantially enhanced, Banerjee said.
