IMPSA has won a US$13M contract from TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB REMACO) – a subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd – to rehabilitate the Tenom Pangi hydropower plant on the Padas River in Sabah, Malaysia.

Sabah Electricity SDN BHD (another TNB subsidiary) has three 22MW Francis turbines which, after rehabilitation by IMPSA, will generate 25MW each totalling 75MW of installed capacity to supply renewable energy to some 150,000 households in the region.

IMPSA’s scope of supply includes the engineering, the hydraulic model, three new Francis runners and other turbine-related components. IMPSA will also supply the new control system, protection systems, and ancillary equipment. IMPSA experts will be supervising plant erection and startup. The project is scheduled for completion in 38 months.

A large part of the materials detailed in the scope of supply will be manufactured at IMPSA’s production center in Lumut, Malaysia.
