IMPSA Construction to work on the Caliraya, Botocan and Kalayaan complex on Luzon Island, bringing the total installed capacity of the whole project to 728MW.

An EPC contract for the execution of the CBK project (the Caliraya, Botocan and Kalayaan complex) on Luzon Island in the Philippines, has been awarded to a turnkey contractor. Philippine company Impsa Construction will utilise civil and mechanical subcontractors and international consultants, and will be in charge of the design, supply, construction and start-up for the rehabilitation of the aging CBK stations and their corresponding civil works.

The company will also oversee the design, supply, construction and start-up of a new hydro station at Kalayaan and a new spillway for the Caliraya dam.

After completion of this work, the total installed capacity of the whole project will increase to 728MW.

Uprating and refurbishing the pumping and generating capacity of the CBK complex is seen as being vital to ensure the safety and reliability of the electric network on Luzon island.
