The two projects with a total 248,700-square-foot photovoltaic (PV) arraywill produce a combined 2,334,081 kWh of clean electricity annually.
The retailer uses the energy produces by the solar installations reducing carbon emissions by 1,610 tons per annum.
Commenting on the installations IKEA Bolingbrook store manager Jim Anastos said "This solar installation is another example of how IKEA can build on our ongoing commitment to sustainability,"
IKEA Schaumburg store manager Ken Bodeen added, "Solar panels help reduce the store’s carbon footprint and allow us to improve what we do today for a better tomorrow."
The installations in Chicago mark the 25th solar power installation at IKEA’s stores spanning 14 locations generating a total of 38MW energy.
