The will produce approximately 1,421,500 kWh of clean electricity annually reducing carbon emissions by 1,080 tons.
IKEA Orlando store manager Julie Mott said that the company partnered with the City of Orlando, Progress Energy and REC Solar in the installation of the system.
"The IKEA coworkers in Orlando are excited to help contribute to this goal with our newly operational solar energy system," added Mott
This marks IKEA’s 18th solar installation in the country with cumulative capacity of 38MW.
IKEA owns each of its solar PV energy systems instead of leasing them or signing power purchase agreements with solar power producers.
