IKEA has installed a 129,400-square-foot photovoltaic (PV) array consisting of a 1,035-kW system at its store in Atlanta, Georgia.

The will produce approximately 1,416,502 kWh of clean electricity annually reducing carbon emissions by 977 tons.

IKEA Atlanta store manager Jim Anastos said that the company partnered with the City of Atlanta, Georgia Power and Gehrlicher Solar in the installation of the system.

"A solar energy system will help reduce the store’s carbon footprint and represents another investment toward our future in this community," added Anastos

This marks IKEA’s 23rd solar installation in the country with cumulative capacity of 38MW.

IKEA owns each of its solar PV energy systems instead of leasing them or signing power purchase agreements with solar power producers.
