The 198MW wind farm complex cost approximately E250 million to build, and its annual output is expected to reach 450,000MWh, enough to supply more than 100,000 households or the entire city of Granada.
Iberdrola Renovables has noted that when produced conventionally, the same amount of energy will cause annual emissions of 400,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Completed in 2007, the El Marquesado complex encompasses four wind farms, each with a capacity of 49.5MW. Deployed on the four sites are 100 late-model Gamesa 2MW wind turbines.
