Iberdrola said that the solar facility will be installed on a 245-hectare site between the towns of Azaila and La Puebla de Hijar in the province of Teruel, Spain. The plant will cost approximately E200 million to build, and will reportedly use 864 solar collectors.
The power station is similar to the 150MW plant the firm is building in Puertollano, in the province of Ciudad Real. The company plans to bring about 150MW of thermal solar capacity on stream in Spain in the next few years.
The commissioning of the new installation will consolidate Iberdrola’s position in the Aragon region’s renewable energy sector, where it has a total installed capacity of 262MW.
