Under the terms of the PPA, Iberdrola will sell 30MW from its 149MW Rugby Wind Power Project, located in Pierce County, North Dakota, US.
The energy sale will enable UMMPA to provide clean energy to 15 member communities in Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota.
The project is located on 9,554 acres of land and is equipped with 71 wind turbines.
UMMPA chairperson Chuck Christensen said, "We are purchasing a clean, renewable energy source, and locking in an affordable, long-term fixed rate for our members, which is so important in today’s energy markets."
The project contributes over $2m annually supporting the local economy.
Iberdrola Renewables vice president Barrett Stambler said, "This 30 MW power purchase agreement will strongly support UMMPA’s continued efforts to bring clean energy to their members."
