US-based Iberdrola Renewables has extended and expanded an existing power purchase agreement (PPA) with the power provider South Texas Electric Cooperative (STEC).

STEC plans to expand its existing 50MW contract with Iberdrola Renewables to 100.8MW and extend it to 31 May 2026.

STEC general manager Michael Packard said with the expanded PPA, the company now gets nearly 10% of its energy from carbon-neutral renewable generation.

The power from the contract comes from the Penascal wind energy facility located in Kenedy County in the US state of Texas.

STEC, an original customer of the Penascal project, has been taking deliveries from the 201.6MW project since 19 May 2009, the company said.
