With the laying of a foundation stone construction has begun on a combined cycle gas turbine station under development by Iberdrola in Latvia.
The Latvenergo company awarded the €300 million contract last February to develop the 420 MW in the capital Riga over a two year schedule.
Iberdrola Generación has been awarded a separate 12-year maintenance contract.
The turkey project will see the CCGT installed at an existing generation site.
