As per the agreed terms, the companies will provide Smart Solar Iberdrola service to the agricultural sector which will allow customers to produce and consume their own energy by using solar photovoltaic technology, thereby optimizing consumption and enhancing the energy efficiency of their facilities.
Feasibility tests will be conducted to boost the technology for the facilities, members, customers and other points of supply represented by ASAJA.
A follow-up committee comprising a representative from each organization will be set up to provide, market and publicize the service in the agricultural sector.
Through its solar photovoltaic generation solution, Iberdrola offers its customers a streamlined package including the design, assembly and commissioning of a fully customized solar installation, besides providing finance, advice, comprehensive maintenance, management and supervision of the facilities through web tools and innovative applications.
Iberdrola will also offer all the required back-up energy.
Spanish professional agricultural organisation ASAJA comprises 200,000 members that either work on farms directly, such as owners and lease-holders, or who are family members that collaborate on farm-related activities.
In February this year, Iberdrola announced plans to invest heavily in renewable energy across the UK with a particular focus on Scotland.
Iberdrola has more than over 14,000MW of wind generation capacity globally and about 11,000MW of hydroelectric generation capacity.
