Hydrolink Projects, a unit of Philippines-based A Brown Co, has struck a deal with the government to develop a hydropower project in Surigao del Sur province.

As per the agreed terms, the company will construct a 25MW hydropower project, which will use the water resources from Carac-an river in Cantilan.

Commenting on the deal, A Brown Co chairman Walter Brown said that the proposed hydropower project is expected to provide for the needs of the Surigao del Sur II Electric Cooperative, which powers approximately 12 municipalities and one city in the province.

Hydrolink president and A Brown Co Business Development vice-president Roel Castro said that the company has identified the most viable strategies for the development of the project.

According to the company, the proposed project is part of A Brown’s plans to provide electric cooperatives in Mindanao with additional power capacities.

A Brown engages in the real estate development business primarily in the Philippines. Its Power segment is involved in the operation of power plants and/or purchase, generation, production supply, and sale of power.
