According to Madhusudhan Prasad, financial commissioner and principal secretary of Department of Power, Haryana, this will be the first super critical unit to be developed by HPGCL for INR33 billion. The board of directors of the company has given a nod to appoint engineering and design consultants for the project.
Mr Prasad added that the decision to develop the additional unit of HPGCL was taken because of environment friendly standards of emission of the unit and its higher efficiency. The new unit is expected to improve the generation capacity of DCRTPS to 1,260MW.
Currently, two units of 300MW capacity each are already functioning at Yamuna Nagar. The units provisionally taken over on August 31 and are installed with chinese technology for boiler, generator, and turbine.
