Under a 12-year agreement, Horsehead presently services three Nucor steel mills located in the southeastern US.
The agreement was the basis for the decision to construct Horsehead’s Barnwell, SC EAF dust recycling facility.
The three Nucor mills, serviced by Barnwell, will not be affected by the new expansion contract.
The new agreement extends the existing service contracts with all of the other Nucor steel mills that are presently serviced by Horsehead.
The agreement also expands the relationship to include additional Nucor facilities across the US.
Horsehead is a subsidiary of Horsehead Holding, a US producer of specialty zinc and zinc-based products and a recycler of electric arc furnace dust.
