UK renewables development firm Wind Prospect and Hong Kong utility China Light & Power (CLP) have revealed plans to develop a 150 MW wind farm near Hong Kong.

The development, 8km east of Clear Water Bay peninsular close to the East Ninepin group of islands, would be the island state’s largest such project.

CLP Holdings plans to launch a two-year feasibility study later this year with operations set for as soon as 2010. Under the proposals, some 50, 3 – 5 MW offshore turbines will be grid-connected via a submarine cable to Tseung Kwan O and Kowloon.
