Electrabel said that a total of 13,000 square meter of the roof would be covered with photovoltaic panels, making it the largest industrial application of solar energy in Belgium.
Installation would begin in January 2008 with the facility due to commission in March 2008. Electrabel has plans to install 11MW of photovoltaic capacity for some 15 industrial customers in Flanders, Belgium.
The project is part of the company’s sustainable development policy to limit the environmental impact of its activities and reach the objective of generating 18% of its capacity from renewable sources.
