Hess has started production from the Tubular Bells deepwater oil and gas field, located in Mississippi Canyon Block 725 in the US Gulf of Mexico.

The company operates and owns a 57.14% interest in the Tubular Bells Field while the remaining 42.86% interest is owned by Chevron U.S.A.

The Tubular Bells field will provide a gross production of approximately 50,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (25,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day net to Hess), following ramp-up period, from three producing wells by the end of 2014.

Hess chief executive officer John Hess said: "This important achievement demonstrates our ability to successfully execute highly complex, deepwater development projects.

"One year after Hess took over as operator, the project was sanctioned and fast tracked with an execution schedule to first oil in just three years."

Discovered in 2003, the Tubular Bells field development was sanctioned in October 2011 and lies approximately 4,300ft of water, 135 miles southeast of New Orleans.

Global independent energy company, Hess is focused in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas.
