HCC’s share in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract will be INR7bn ($156.8m).

The project will be located on the Tehri Dam reservoir, which functions as the upper reservoir and Koteshwar reservoir as the lower balancing reservoir.

The project will comprise of four reversible pump turbine units of 250 MW each, which will recycle water discharged between upper reservoir and lower reservoir.

Under the terms of the contract the JV will construct a head race tunnel, surge shaft, penstocks, underground powerhouse, ventilation system gallery, bus bar gallery and cavern, drainage gallery, access audits and tail race tunnel.

The project, will generate additional generating capacity of 1000 MW of peaking power, on completion scheduled in 54 months.
