Additionally, about five km of irrigation lines, which will be used for the distribution of treated water, have also been completed. The South Al Mabelah wastewater network project consists of a 177 km long network for the collection of wastewater through ground gravity and involves the laying of a network of pipelines ranging in diameter between 200mm to 900mm.
The project will also have other subsidiary lines and residential connections of some 6,250 houses and installations along a distance of 223 km and through pipes ranging between 150 to 250 mm besides a network for the distribution of treated wastewater involving the laying of 47 km of pipelines with a diameter ranging between 300mm to 900mm. Moreover, a network of optical fabrics with the length of 400 km and using pipes with a diameter ranging between 25 mm to 110 mm will also be laid down at the project.
The South Al Mabelah network will be connected to the main water treatment plant, which Haya Water is currently carrying out in Al Mounomah area.
When completed, the project will be able to treat wastewater coming from all areas and villages of Seeb.
The project is aimed at improving the hygienic standards for all residents in the governorate of Muscat besides protecting the underground water resources from pollution and preserving potable water.
