Shipment of modules has already started and the project is scheduled for completion in early 2014.
The company’s wholly owned subsidiary Hanwha Solar Canada will produce the modules in Ontario, Canada, while Hanwha Q CELLS is developing the project.
Owned by Fiera Axium Infrastructure, the project is estimated generate up to 50GWh of electricity annually, enough energy to power 5,000 average Ontario households.
Hanwha SolarOne president Steve Kang said Canada represents a significant part of the company’s sales network, as it is on pace to increase module shipments to North America by more than 60% in 2013.
