The remaining three units will be synchronized by the end of June.

GVK’s 330 MW hydropower project consists of four units of 82.5 MW each, and is situated on Alaknanda river in Uttarakhand.

GVK founder chairman and managing director Dr. GVK Reddy said: "The successful synchronization is a major milestone for this challenging project which has experienced so many trials and tribulations.

"I would like to congratulate all our project staff at GVK’s Alaknanda Hydro Power Company, who were involved in the execution, construction and commissioning of this major hydro power project."

A power purchase agreement (PPA) has been signed with Uttar Pradesh province, and 12% output will be provided free to Uttarakhand state.
