Developed as a run of the river project, the project will supply 12% of the energy to the Government of Uttarakhand at free of cost, and the balance 88% offtake will go to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation.
The 248m long project has a 90m high dam and will use the net head of around 66m between the diversion dam and the power house in order to generate electricity.
The water conductor system comprises two head race tunnels, RCC troughs, power channel and penstocks.
According to the company, the power house accommodates four 82.5MW vertical francis turbines.
GVK founder chairman and managing director Dr GVK Reddy said the Shrinagar Hydro Electric project is the company’s another significant step towards contribution of the country’s infrastructural development.
