The company said that it is now expanding its testing protocols beyond sorghum and corn to sawdust, switchgrass and grass clippings. The company feels each of these feedstocks has potential application for ethanol production.
Bill Carmichael, president of Gulf Ethanol, said: With each development of the technology, we become more efficient in our processing. By November, we plan to complete the initial testing and begin design of a full-scale commercial processing unit.
