Huaneng that specializes in solar and wind projects will own 63% of the venture while Guangdong Ming yang, a wind turbine manufacturer, will own the remaining 37%.
Ming Yang chairman and CEO Chuanwei Zhang remarked that the venture was an important step towards developing strategic alliances in the wind power sector.
"Through this Joint Venture, we have set our sights on becoming the leading wind power farm developer and operator not only in Southern China, but also extending our reach nationwide and overseas in the future," said Zhang.
Huaneng Renewables executive director and president Gang Lin added, "Leveraging our expertise across China, we are confident that the Joint Venture can replicate our success nationwide and beyond."
