This new facility, partially supported by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, supports capabilities in energy development.
GTI’s AGTF is an expansion of its Flex-Fuel Test Facility, designed to evaluate gasification processes for fossil and biomass solid fuels. Both the facilities combined would allow integrated piloting of advanced gasification and downstream technologies, which commercialize processes to produce power, gaseous and liquid fuels, and chemicals.
The new facility, which covers an area of 13,000 square foot, provides three fully-enclosed process bays, which comprise supporting areas and equipment for development and testing of technologies for syngas production, processing and end use.
The facility is equipped with Carbona biomass-to-liquids syngas conditioning systems and Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne Advanced Compact Gasifier pilot plant, which is a project jointly developed wtih Alberta Energy Research Institute.
GTI was cooperated by both Carbona and Pratt & Whitney for the construction and development of this facility.
