The project, which will be executed by Fluor’s Gilwice, Poland, office, is worth more than E200 million ($275.3 million) and was booked during the second quarter of 2007.
This project enables Grupa Lotos to comply with the EU requirements concerning the quality of diesel oils, which will be in force as of 2009, said David Seaton, Fluor energy and chemicals group president.
The contract is part of Grupa Kapitalowa Lotos’s development strategy, which provides for the construction of utilities and off-sites under the technical upgrade program. The scheme’s objective is to increase the throughput capacity of the Gdansk refinery by approximately 75%, to 10.5 million tons of crude oil annually, with a higher conversion ratio.
Fluor said that the scope of facilities covers the new tank farm, interconnections, liquid petroleum gas washing unit, revamping Lotos’s high voltage power distribution system, infrastructure and revamping water systems and other outside battery limits units.
Initial project work has already begun and construction is slated to begin in February 2008 with a February 2010 completion date.
