The agreement, known as an ‘Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity’ or IDIQ contract, provides for an indefinite quantity of supplies delivered over a three-year period. Under this contract, GridPoint energy management systems may be installed in up to 2,250 USPS locations across the country.
The first year of the contract allows for up to 750 locations with the option for two one-year extensions to install systems in an additional 750 locations each year.
USPS will leverage GridPoint’s system to achieve its goal of a 30% reduction in facility energy use by 2015. USPS said that it has already reduced facility energy intensity (BTUs per square foot) usage by 21% since 2003 through conservation efforts.
The new contract follows a pilot in 16 locations that enabled USPS to achieve savings in energy consumption from the installation of GridPoint’s monitoring and control systems.
Peter Corsell, chairman and CEO of GridPoint, said: “We are excited to support the Postal Service in achieving its energy savings goals by providing an advanced energy management solution that is scalable across the organization.
”This is one of an integrated suite of products enabling our customers to save money, increase efficiency and adopt clean technologies.”
